It was time I practiced what I preached…
Mother’s Day weekend, my mother-in-law sent us home with half a cake. I’ve always told my clients, “If it’s in the house, you’ll eat it.”
I love cake. I love cake so much. I love cake so much I’m willing to type I love cake four times to emphasize my point.
I couldn’t do it. My wife asked me if I threw the cake away, and I immediately thought of how awesome it would be to end my day with a piece of cake and a glass of milk. I simply replied with,“Uhhh…. like… no. I have not.”
So I asked for her help. I told her to throw it away while I was at basketball that morning. She did (thank goodness…. I could eat half a cake on my own in one sitting. True story.)
You might be thinking… “You’re throwing away food?”
Yes, but it’s garbage. Sugar reduces my focus and makes me lethargic. Therefore, I’m not giving my family my best. They deserve better.
So if you have something in your life (such as sweets) that is jeopardizing your health, it’s time to throw it away. If you can’t do it, find someone that will. If you feel guilty about throwing away food, make a trip to the shelter.
Sometimes to rise and hustle, you must be willing to throw things away.
