Cleaning up my office one day, I found a stack of business cards from when I trained people privately. On the front of my card was the usual stuff—my phone number, email, and services offered.
On the back was my logo and one of my favorite verses in the Bible…
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. —Hebrews 12:11
That way, even if a person were to pick up my card and never see me again, hopefully that verse would help shed some light on their journey.
The truth is…
Dieting is not pleasant sometimes. Some days, you won’t feel like exercising, but you dig deep and get it done anyway.
There’s a peace in achieving better health. I am speaking from experience. After losing 115 pounds, I’m experiencing more joy and peace in my 40’s than I did in my late 20s. In my 20s, I struggled to get up and down stairs without being exhausted. Here I am at 42, playing basketball 3 days a week with guys in their 20s…
… all thanks to the discipline that sometimes didn’t feel pleasant at the time.
I promise you, you’re worth the rising and hustling.
